About Morecambe Food Directory

Morecambe Food Directory is an independent local directory run by Joe Brts, trading as Practical Desk (UK). We are not a restaurant, not the Food Standards Agency, and not Lancaster City Council. We do not take bookings.

Where the data comes from

• Core listing fields (name, address/postcode, hygiene rating and rating date) come from the Food Standards Agency Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, reused under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
• We filter to Morecambe-area food-serving types. Included when: (1) Local Authority is Lancaster City (FHRS id 168); (2) business type is Restaurant/Cafe/Canteen, Takeaway/sandwich shop, Pub/bar/nightclub, or Mobile caterer; (3) postcode starts with LA3 or LA4, OR any address line contains Morecambe, Heysham, Bare or Torrisholme (case-insensitive). Excluded: schools, care homes/hospitals, manufacturers, retailers, hotels/B&Bs, distributors, farms.
• Category pages such as fish and chips or bakeries use honest name heuristics because the FSA has no such types — uncertain matches are flagged.
• Phone, website, hours and menu links appear only when a business submits them via our form.

How the list is ordered

The main list is alphabetical. Payment never changes it. Businesses can pay for a separate Featured box, always labelled Sponsored / Featured (paid). Payment never changes or hides an FSA hygiene rating.

Reviews

We do not publish reviews at launch. We never invent ratings or accept reviews in exchange for payment.

How we make money

Optional Featured (sponsored) listings, later Google AdSense (with a certified CMP and cookie consent), and possible UK affiliate programmes for food delivery or table booking. Affiliate links will be labelled. See Sponsored listings.
